Sarah Pickstone makes very large-scale paintings, in watercolour with oil, and draws extensively. She has a particular interest in the contribution made by women artists and writers to visual and literary history and their creative processes.

Pickstone won first prize in the John Moores Painting Prize in 2014, having been runner -up in 2004. She has been a recipient of the Rome Scholarship, at the British School at Rome and had residencies in New York and Italy. She shows internationally, most recently in Shanghai, Seoul, New York, Italy and throughout the UK.

Recent solo shows include: Other Stories- CGP London 2017 The Writers Series- New Art Centre Salisbury 2013 The Rehearsal – Mercer Gallery Yorkshire 2016.

An Allegory of Painting, a newly commissioned site- specific painting for the Royal Academy collection space and the entrance hall of Burlington House, is on show until August 2019 as part of RA250.

Sarah Pickstone lives and works in London. She is the author of Park Notes – published by Daunt Books 2014 and has contributed to recent academic conferences at The Courtauld and Oxford University.
